Sandra Markus brings more than two decades of senior marketing and communications leadership across Canada’s public and private sectors, with deep experience in public-sector branding, education, healthcare and organizations navigating change.
A strategic thinker with an empathetic approach and collaborative style, Sandra helps clients find and define their voice, sharpen their positioning, and build brand, marketing and communications strategies that are clear, credible and useful. Her work is grounded in strong planning, careful listening and an ability to bring people along, especially when the work is complex, sensitive or moving quickly.
Before working with McGill Buckley, Sandra held senior roles at HBS Marketing, where she served as VP of Client Services for more than a decade, and at Algonquin College, where she led a full-scale brand and strategic communications renewal as Director of Communications and Marketing Services.
She was the driving force behind Carleton University’s award-winning “Change” campaign and has supported executive leadership teams through organizational storytelling, brand alignment, and stakeholder engagement. Recently, she was also a key part of the McGill Buckley team that rebranded Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice and Hendry Warren LLP.
As a founding partner of Brand Clarity, Sandra spent more than a decade advising organizations and institutions, including Lakehead University, the University of Waterloo, Victorian Order of Nurses, CHEO, Pace Independent Living and the City of Ottawa. She has also consulted with clients through the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing (CEPSM), including North Bay Public Health, the Ottawa Catholic District School Board, Humber College, UOIT and York University.
Sandra’s ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and develop tailored, integrated solutions has made her a trusted advisor to leadership teams working through growth, change, or both. She brings the kind of senior counsel that helps organizations get unstuck, get aligned and get moving.
Sandra is a certified Strategic Communications Management Professional through the International Association of Business Communicators and holds a certificate in change leadership. She has also taught in the Advertising program at Algonquin College.
Beyond her professional work, Sandra is a dedicated advocate for children with rare developmental disabilities in Canada and is actively involved in policy conversations and parent advocacy networks.
