Perley Health Foundation Campaign

A Campaign to Support Research, Innovation and Education in Long-Term Care.

We felt an immediate connection with the team at the Perley Health Foundation when we spoke to them about working on their most significant fundraising campaign ever.

With aging parents and a late father who was a Royal Canadian Air Force veteran, caring for older Canadians and honouring veterans are very close to our hearts. We knew that Perley Health had an excellent reputation for delivering on both those fronts.

Beyond what we had heard about the exceptional care at Perley Health, we did not have a great deal of knowledge about the organization. That would quickly change.

Addressing An Urgent Need in Healthcare

Like so many, we had read the stories about how seniors and families had suffered during COVID. Our extensive work with healthcare clients had already told us, time and again, that a rapidly aging population was impacting families and stressing the healthcare system. It was a crisis in search of innovative solutions.

We interviewed the CEO of Perley Health, Executive Director of the Perley Health Foundation, and members of the campaign cabinet, staff, boards and leadership team. It became clear that Perley Health had the people, place and plans needed to address the care of frail seniors and drive innovation in the long-term care sector. Next, they needed a campaign that captured their history and forward-thinking vision for transforming care for Canada's aging population.

“McGill Buckley has been a valuable and trustworthy partner in our campaign, giving us sound strategy, exciting creativity and candid counsel. We have loved working with them.”

Branding The Perley Health Foundation Campaign

With an eye toward the long list of required campaign deliverables, such as the case for support, we developed an overarching theme or brand for the campaign. Perley Health's long and proud history of caring for Canada's veterans and the need to recruit people to support the campaign led us to recommend Answering The Call as the new theme.

Once the campaign theme was approved, we wrote a three-year communication plan and key messaging platform. We designed a case for support and a full suite of collateral materials to support donor meetings, proposals and events. We designed and built a campaign website. We helped write and produce campaign videos and created a social media program.

Working with the Perley Health Foundation team over the past two years has been incredibly rewarding. The success of their Answering the Call campaign is testimony to their dedication and commitment. Our good friend, former client and current colleague, Melanie Adams, introduced us to the team.

In June of 2022, we helped publicly launch the campaign at a special event at Ottawa City Hall. The event included a video we wrote for Canadian broadcasting legend and honorary campaign chair Peter Mansbridge. Quite the thrill to hear his velvety voice saying the words typed into a keyboard at our offices.
